Amit Heri grew up in Bangalore, India, listening to the Blues, Indian & Western classical, Rock & Pop – B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Ravi Shankar, Allah Rakha, Zakir Hussain, L. Shankar, Mandolin U. Srinivas, R.D. Burman, Bach, Villa Lobos, The Police and many others. His introduction to Jazz, through the music of John Mclaughlin, George Benson, Miles Davis & John Coltrane, led him to study Jazz and Composition on a scholarship at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
